유방암 자가 진단법, Self-examination for the diagnosis of breast cancer

- 유방 양성종양은 신생아기 이후 어느 연령층 아이들에게도 날 수 있다. 다행히 어린 영유아나 학령기 아이들이나 사춘기 여아들의 유방에 악성종양이 거의 나지 않는다.
- 여아들의 유방에 생기는 종양은 거의가 양성종양이고 악성종양은 극히 드물다.
- 9∼12세 사춘기 초기 여아들의 유방이 조기 발육으로 정상적으로 커질 때 조금 얼얼하고 아픈 것은 정상이다.
- 이때 한쪽 유방이 다른 쪽 유방 보다 좀 더 크고 아플 수 있다.
- 사춘기 여아들의 유방이 아프거나 유방에 젖멍울이 나 있거나, 양성종양이 나 있을 때 그들의 엄마들은 유방암이 나는 줄로 잘못 알고 겁이 나서 소아청소년과에서 진료받는 경우가 가끔 있다.
- 사춘기 초기 여아들의 한쪽이나 양쪽 유방에 젖멍울이 생기면서 유방이 커지는 현상은 거의가 정상 발육 현상이다.
- 사춘기부터 자신의 유방에 종양이 있는지 알아보기 위해서 손으로 유방을 자가 검진하는 법을 배워야 한다.
- 모든 여성은 자신이 자기의 유방을 일생동안 주기적으로 직접 검진해서 유방 종양이 있는지 확인해야 한다.
- 유방 자가 검진하는 방법을 다음 그림을 통해 설명한다.
- 이런 식으로 자신의 유방을 주기적으로 검진해서 자신의 유방이 정상인지 비정상인지 쉽게 알 수 있다.
- 유방에 어떤 이상이 있을 때는 곧 의사의 검진을 받아야 한다.
